"Accompanied by catalogs with fresh observations by scholars and researchers, the foundation's exhibitions are building awareness of the region's greatest achievements in the visual arts in the 20th century. That's an essential service-and at the moment, no other institution in the city is doing it as consistently, or as well." --Steven Litt, Plain Dealer Art Critic

The Cleveland Artists Foundation Benefit "Paper the Town"
CAF's New Name to be Revealed

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Artists Foundation (CAF) announces its Annual Benefit "Paper the Town" on Saturday, October 13, 2012, 6:30-10:30 pm catered by the Ritz-Carlton at the Silver Grille, tenth floor, Valet Park at 200 W. Prospect Avenue, Cleveland, 44113. CAF focuses on the future as its new name will be revealed after a year-long rebranding process.

The sky's the limit with fabulous views, hors d'oeuvres, and open bar at the VIP reception being held at the Terminal Tower Observation Deck for $300 and up ticket holders. Ticket prices of $150- person, $250-person, and $550-couple/$300-single include dinner and live music by the Baldwin- Wallace Jazztet. An original, one-of-a-kind pulp painting by Tom Balbo will be donated by the artist to each $550-couple/$300-single ticket holders. For reservations please call (216) 227-9507 by October 7.

Silent and live auction items offer artwork, jewelry, private tour of the Van Sweringen's Greenbriar Suite, and an iPad raffle, and much more.

The benefit takes its theme from the Octavofest program of book and paper arts with three exhibitions taking place at CAF this fall. These exhibitions celebrate the work of Tom Balbo, director of the Morgan Art of Papermaking Conservatory and Educational Foundation, and Art Books Cleveland (ABC). ABC, an organization devoted to advancing the appreciation of bookmaking and paper arts, will feature its fifth annual abecedarium exhibition of handmade books that explore the alphabet or an aspect of any alphabet. The group will host the first juried retrospective of their handmade art books. CAF is honoring Tom at the benefit for his distinguished career as an artist and Morgan co-founder, for the creative, artistic, and economic impact he has brought to our region, and noteworthy achievement of reaching an international audience with his groundbreaking Watermarks 2012 Conference.

The Cleveland Artists Foundation, founded in 1984, is dedicated to advancing knowledge of the significant visual art and architecture of the Northeast Ohio region. Collecting, scholarship, and education preserve its proud history as we celebrate the current and future Greater Cleveland arts community. Proceeds raised from the benefit are an essential means of accomplishing this goal.
